Learn more about our journey and the people we serve.
The Marie Anne Donis Foundation was born out of the belief that we all have something to give.
What started as providing a cup of soup to a hungry child, carrying a bucket of water for an elderly neighbor, and giving youth a safe place to gather - has grown into a community center with a mission to empower and teach.
Located in Marie Medelaine, an area of the Cite Soleil district, on route Neuf, the community center is a place that serves as a home of love and dignity for hundreds of children within the surrounding neighborhoods. They come to share love and unity, learn about civic education, love for themselves and love for their environment and their community. It is merely a place where those kids are served to serve their community. They come to be empowered so they can empower their community.
garden
The community garden is the most important activity we have for the kids. It gathers them in unity, love and dignity while they are learning to love their environment, protect it as one group. It is amazing to see the children learn what they can accomplish together and how the earth can sustain them.
out reach
No need to say that water is probably the biggest basic problem in all-poor communities in Haiti. A lot of times, the residents drink the water straight from a river, if they are lucky to have one near town, and of course it is not a water to drinkā¦
meal program
Most of the kids, who barely make it to school, will not have anything to eat when they return from school. Hungery and nutristion have a huge impact on our childrens ability to learn. We will serve every child a hot meal and a cup of natural juice every day after school.
sports & arts
The social values are easily taught to the children through recreational activities such as dancing classes, music and most importantly Sports. It is a safe place for them to gather, experience unity and fair play while entertaining themselves in dignity and love.
join us!
Marie Anne Donis Foundation hopes to reach out to as many children as possible in the Community through different projects such as: community garden, potable water distribution in the Community, after school program, recreational activities, Feeding program, and classes on human rights and civic education. We want the kids to be empowered through love, dignity and unity! Our kids will run all projects, an efficient way to teach them to be responsible in life.
